Every man for himself

There is a well known saying that "every man for himself". Some people believe that there are armies that have used this as a command. It is highly dubious since most commanders who have the wit to give this command will also have the brains to figure out that it is even better to leave their men in the dark to buy more time for their own retreat. Moreover, most commanders are aware that their chances of survival increases if they are retreating as a group(For the cowardly commanders, the smaller the retreating group in proportion to the troops (unwittingly) playing the delaying action.) than routing.

Recently we saw an ex-military man showing his true colours. It turned out that the man that Trump had been using for advise for military and foreign affairs before the election may be tainted. This is a retired general who was even selected to head the NSA. (National Security Agency)

Michael Flynn was suspected to have ties with foreign governments before and after the election even before Trump took office. However, it is the latest discovery that really took the cake. Flynn had lobbied for the Turkish government between August and November 2016. The thing was that Trump had insisted Flynn to sit in during his pre-election intelligence briefings. This is a person who is a known anti-Islamist who apparently will change his views when working with an Islamic country. This may also explain the 7 countries that in Trump's "Muslim Ban". The countries did not pay or pay enough to Trump or his people.

But perhaps the person to be blamed is the man at the top. Trump who claimed that being in a military themed college gave him more training than people from or in the army. Trump who has so far stated that his generals lost a man in action. A command in chief who had a secret plan to defeat ISIS in 2016 but has now outsourced the planning task to his generals with a 30 day deadline in 2017. The biggest sin by Trump was that he ran such a cheap campaign that even his senior advisors had to run side gigs. That may also explain why so many of his appointments have failed their security clearances.

"True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost."Arthur Ashe

Update:
It turned out that Flynn was suspected in the past of getting payment from Russia before the elections. He said during an interview to check on the facts implying his actions were aboveboard. I guess he was wrong when ti turned out that he received payment from Russia.
