Not killing the customer

I have written many times that most businesses are not in the habit of killing their customer as that practice was bad for business. In fact, most businesses are in the habit of keeping their customers as safe as possible. (Note that I use the word safe, not healthy. Junk food is very safe to eat. It is just not very healthy to eat in the long run) Airlines provide seatbelts on their planes even though I have never encountered a flight that it was actually useful. Life vest and life rafts are seldom used by people. (You can tell by the dust gathering on those items onboard vessels.)

Let me give you another piece of trivial. I use to think that modern revolvers were the worst firearm to use as they were slow to reload which was a serious disadvantage if your target had a firearm. For those of us old enough, we have seen cop shows where the police could have short conversations while reloading their revolvers. Occasionally, we even witness the users shot while reloading the revolver.

Let me first address the elephant in the room. We are talking about modern revolvers. We are also not talking about fixed cylinder revolvers revolver design to fire monster rounds. (If you require fire monster rounds to dispatch your target, that target would not carry or need a firearm.)

We are talking about swing cylinder revolvers. Now the first thing that the firearms company did was to add an extractor so that the empty cartridges could be removed in one simple motion. Other enterprising companies then developed speedloader, moon clips and speed strips to reduce the time to reload the revolver.

Now I am not saying that revolvers a good firearm. I am just pointing out that companies have an incentive to keep their customer safe if they are expecting repeated business.
