New bird on the block

The downside of taking photos of birds is that you seldom get a chance of identifying what bird that you have insight. If the bird is very distinct, you will have no problem. If the bird is small and similar to other species. (Eg. Have more related family members), then you are likely to wrongly identify.

Take the bird below. I initially IDed it as the Olive-backed Sunbird. It has a yellow body, black beak and some blue feathers.


It is the Plain-throated Sunbird.

This is one of those birds that the male looks very different from the female. Guess which gender the bird is named after. Clue: It is not the dull looking bird.
