Bird's eye view

Today was a very special day as I saw a raptor just outside of my window.

It is likely to be a female oriental honey buzzard. One giveaway of the bird's diet is from its name. It hunts bee hives and feeds on bees, honey and comb. I thought that was quite strange as it is a raptor and logically should be hunting bigger (read higher caloric) prey. But it explained why less than 5 seconds after it flew away, a few mynahs flew to its original perch.

It makes me think that the few juvenile birds nesting on the roof nearby may be related by the beak and the dull feathers.

Update:
The juvenile birds are Savanna nightjar. They have also flown away. (I hope they have flown away as the alternative is rather pessimistic.)
