Spending irresponsibly

There are some things that make people behave irrationally. Humans tend to spend money on shiny stuff (Diamonds, gold, pearls) or dangerous stuff (Weapons, exotic pets, etc). My personal weakness is stuff that glows in the dark.

I have several watches of which the treasured ones glow in the dark thanks to the luminous paint. I even purchased a watch with tritium gas tubes. Unfortunately, it turns out to be the dimmest glow of the all the watches.

If you take a quick glance, the picture above appears to have 4 watches. There is actually a fifth watch in between. The watch that you can barely see in the middle is the tritium. To be fair to the tritium watch makers, the watch is supposed to be visible to the human eye and not a camera. When I was taking the shot, I could clearly see 5 watches glowing in the dark.

The other thing that interest me are things glows under UV light. Once you are familiar with the concept of fluorescence, you will be captivated by the amount of things that glow under UV light.

The picture is of some coloured "post it" notes. There is a second packet of "post it" note on top of the glowing packet. It is also coloured but it is barely visible.
