Mating season

One thing that I have always assumed is that reptiles used their skins solely for camouflage or to warn off other animals. The reason I felt was that they were "cold-blooded" and would not use colour for any other purposes.

As a result, I was quite puzzled when I saw several changeable lizards having a red throat. The thing was that once they spotted, the red throat coloration disappeared. Apparently, the male lizard has a red throat when it is trying to attract a mate. The fact that I spotted several red throats in different places on the same day makes me believe it is mating season.
