Salamanders are a unique animal. They look like lizards. But they are not. They are amphibians which means that they need to keep their skin moist. They also need water to lay their eggs.

That is not what makes them special enough to get them mentioned. Some of their (newts) cousins' regeneration skills are pretty competitive to Deadpool's ability to heal. Limb amputation? That is merely the first round. We are talking eyes and brain.

Once the newt reaches the adult phase, it loses the regenerative powers. But some species never mature.
