Lost in translation

There is a word that recently caught my attention. It is called Glamour. It is used to describe models or highly desirable lifestyle.

But it is more ancient used was to describe Fey. Fictional characters like fairies, elves or other nonhumans with magical powers. They had enchantment that prevents us, humans, to see them in their true colour.

Except that the word glamour is actually related to the word grammar.

People in the past had limited education. When people became educated, their language changed especially when talking to their learned peers. The rest of the uneducated masses were then left puzzled by the new spoken language. When they inquired about the lessons that the newly educated person studied, there was this strange subject called Grammar. (Ancient curriculum was quite limited)

And their imaginations did the rest.
