K is for ...
One of the most well-known myths of the Komodo Dragon is that it is supposed to use a toxic biological weapon (its saliva) to bring down its prey. It turned out that it had poison glands introduces a venom that rapidly decreases blood pressure, expedites blood loss, and sends a victim into shock. This is totally different from the toxic saliva that is supposed to poison the blood and causes an infection that slows down the prey. There are animals that use bio weapons but the Komodo dragon is not one of them.
The Komodo dragon is a relative of the monitor lizard family (largest by size). With its size, it can take down prey that other monitor lizards will not be able to. It can eat once a month if the prey is sufficiently large.
