The truth is that the pictures were taken at dusk. Which the camera made it look much earlier in the evening then it actually was.
This cat looks even sharper but the truth is that it was taken moments before the cat above. No manual exposure adjustment. Just the camera figuring out that with the dimmer lights, the exposure time needed to be increased.
