M is for ...

Today I will cover about Manatees. Not because of any special features of the animals. But it is one of the few animals that people get confused with. Manatee also known as sea cows are not Dugongs. Dugongs are found in Australia, Asia and Eastern Africa. Manatees are found in Central America, West Africa and the Amazon. Manatees are herbivorous creatures, Dugongs are mostly herbivorous (Their prey are not exactly the fastest swimmers). Manatees tails look like a flipper, Dugongs tails look more like those of a dolphin.

There is another group of animals that are often confused for one another. They are seals and sea lions. Sea lions are bigger than seals. If you see them doing tricks in a theme park, those are sea lions. Seals are clumsier on land. If you see it in a nature documentary being hunted, it is usually a seal.
