Fact of the week: Knowing Jack....

Why are jack rabbits (actually hares) called jack rabbits? Because of their long ears. Jack ass rabbits.

Jack asses are a term for male donkeys. 

So why Jack? 

It was a term for young male workers. And then it took a life of its own.
