Catch the bat

One of the questions that I always wondered is if bats are nocturnal to avoid their faster avian predators. Then I spotted a bat that was circling around a roof in the morning. A black bird swooped down on it. The bat hardly broke its rhythm and changed the pattern from clockwise to anti-clockwise. The black bird flew off empty taloned. 

Speed is not everything.
