Poor taste

There are a lot of myths about birds. They have no ability to taste since they eat some of the world's spiciest chili. Or things with capsaicin. Except that they also do not like to eat foul-tasting insects. But what if our understanding of taste is wrong? Or if birds use a different part of their body to taste stuff?

Just because birds cannot chew does not mean they do not need to taste things.

By the way, when the birds notice the capsaicin, it is usually 1,000 to 10,000 times spicier than what mammals have reacted negatively towards.
